Would you like to make your Do-it.org profile exciting and engaging? The following guidance will show you how to do this.
Your organisation has a public-facing profile page, with space to add your logo and a header image. Volunteers on the website will be more engaged with a profile which grabs their attention!
In order to add a logo and header to the organisation, go to the 'My organisations' tab and click the name of the organisation from the Organisation column. This will display your organisation's public profile.
To upload a logo please click on 'Change Logo' on the small square:
This will open a menu for you to choose a logo from your computer to upload.
To upload a header image for the organisation profile please click on 'Change your header photo' on the header image:
This will open a menu for you to choose an image from your computer to upload.
Please watch this video for more information:
Please also check that your images fit meet the website specification by viewing our Image Guidance here (PDF Format).
You can also add images to opportunities, and it is known that opportunities with images are more likely to be looked at by potential volunteers than ones without.
It is not compulsory to add an image to your opportunities and many people will not be able to source appropriate pictures, but if you can it is very easy.
Once you have filled in all your opportunity details, and clicked Save and Publish (if you need help with this please see here), it will take you to this page:
This shows that your opportunity will by default be displayed with your organisation logo (if it has one). But to add a new image, please click on Browse which will open a menu to allow you to select an image from your computer.
If you have already created an opportunity, and click on Edit, it will take you to this page:
In order to add a new image, please click on Change Image, which will open a menu to allow you to select an image from your computer.
Again, please also check that your images fit meet the website specification by viewing our Image Guidance here (PDF Format).
What if my images look weird or unexpected?
When you upload an image to the system, we look at the dimensions and consider the size and shape of the space it will occupy on the website.
This means that if the Logo or Header image you upload does not fit, then the automation may struggle to make it look perfect.
If you are not getting the results you want, try cropping and resizing the images to the correct dimensions before you upload it to the site as this will give you more control.
What if I can’t upload or nothing happens?
If you are using a very restricted Internet connection or dial-up Internet (e.g. >56Kbps) then it is possible that you may not be able to upload your images if they are very large.
If this is the case, try reducing the size of the images or increasing their compression to reduce their filesize.
What if I don’t have any image editing software?
We recommend using Fotor - http://www.fotor.com/features/crop.html
Fotor is free, accessible through a browser (so requires no installation on your PC) and will allow you to easily crop and resize your images before uploading to Do-it.
